Heating/Ventilating & Air Conditioning
As a full-time landlord with multiple rental units to maintain, I have long wanted to learn HVAC concepts to help me understand the heating and cooling equipment at properties that I own. Knowledge of HVAC equipment has been one of my least understood skills, but often required the most maintenance time and costs in operation of my rental properties. The impact my technical education will have is to give me the knowledge to troubleshoot and install HVAC equipment at properties I own and to help me be very responsive in resolving issues my tenants have regarding heating and cooling problems that may arise.
As an adult HVAC student, I now have the technical skills required to begin troubleshooting and installing equipment for heating and cooling. I have gained core electrical skills for understanding such electrical equipment as wiring, transformers, safety circuits, and integrated control boards. I have gained experience working with multiple types of motors such as Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) and Electronically Commutated Motors (ECM). I have also learned plumbing concepts related to pipe cutting and installing gas lines.
I’ll be able not only to troubleshoot HVAC equipment but also a multitude of other equipment such as refrigerators, stoves, water heaters, and plumbing fixtures. Resolving issues both with quality and responsiveness will provide satisfaction and a great customer experience for my tenants.
