Lineworkers play a vital role in building and maintaining the nation’s electric grid, and they are often the first responders when accidents or storms disrupt power.
Our Electrical Power Line Technician Pre-Apprenticeship Program is designed to give you a competitive advantage when applying for well-paying jobs in the electric utility and telecommunications sectors.
The Great Oaks Power Line Technician program is led by a team of highly experienced instructors with decades of hands-on experience in the power line industry. These experts are deeply knowledgeable in the essential skills needed for success in the field and are committed to fostering skill development in their students. The program offers a comprehensive training approach, combining hands-on learning with classroom instruction to simulate real-world scenarios. Students will gain the practical and technical expertise necessary to build, maintain, and repair electrical and telecommunications systems, preparing them for a career in this vital industry.
This 600-hour program can be completed in approximately 5 months and takes place at the Scarlet Oaks Campus, running Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

- Pole Climbing Techniques & Hardware
- Basic Electrical Principles & Theory
- Conductors and Transformers
- Personal and Insulating Protective Equipment
- Aerial and Underground Construction, Maintenance and Repair
- Digger-Derrick and Bucket Truck Operation
Upon completion, students will be prepared to earn the Class D Linemen Certificate, OSHA-10 certification, and CPR/First Aid card.
