Return to Title IV Fund

Withdrawal and Return to Title IV (R2T4)

If an adult student withdraws from Great Oaks, the Financial Aid Office will complete a Withdrawal Calculation Form to determine the adult student’s final Student Account Balance..  See Refund Policy Section 3.3. If the withdrawn adult student accepted Title IV aid, the Financial Aid Office will also complete a Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculation. This calculation will determine if Great Oaks is required to return any funds received on behalf of the adult student or if the adult student is eligible for a Post-Withdrawal Disbursement.  The R2T4 calculation will be done regardless of the reason the adult student withdrew from Great Oaks.

  • Return: A program must have been in session for at least 60% of the Payment Period’s scheduled hours for an adult student to earn all eligible Title IV aid. If the program has not been in session at least 60% of the scheduled Payment Period hours, Great Oaks will be required to return a portion of the Title IV aid that was received on behalf of the adult student.  The adult student will then be required to refund this same amount back to Great Oaks.

  • Post-Withdrawal Disbursement: If an adult student was eligible for aid that had not been disbursed by the withdrawal date, the adult student may be eligible to receive these funds as a Post-Withdrawal Disbursement.

The results of the R2T4 calculation will be detailed on the withdrawal paperwork the adult student receives.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Title IV Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

To be eligible for Title IV aid, the US Department of Education (ED) requires that adult students must continue to make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward the completion of their program.  SAP is reviewed for all adult students with Title IV aid at the end of each Payment Period.

When SAP is reviewed, the adult student’s attendance and grades are evaluated as follows:

  • Qualitative: Have a cumulative average grade of a ‘C’ as defined by the Great Oaks Grading Policy. See handbook police 6.20

  • Maximum Time Frame: All Full-Time programs at Great Oaks have a Maximum Time Frame of 100%, which means an adult student must be mathematically able to complete the program’s required clock hours by the program’s scheduled end date.

If an adult student does not meet Title IV SAP requirements at the review, the adult student will receive written notification that includes the specific criteria not met and what the adult student must do to regain Title IV eligibility.  The adult student will automatically be placed on a Financial Aid Warning for one Payment Period.  Adult students on Financial Aid Warning are eligible for the Title IV disbursement for one Payment Period, but must retain Title IV eligibility for any future disbursements.
