General Info
The Great Oaks Firing Range is available for weapons qualifications and requalifications as well as rental for law enforcement agencies.
Our range staff is dedicated to providing quality firearms programs to support the training needs of Law Enforcement, the Private Security
Professional and civilians. All Great Oaks firearms instructors are Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission certified for Basic Police and Basic Private Security in revolver, semiautomatic and shotgun qualifications and re-qualifications.
The Great Oaks Firing Range facility consists of two bays each having TEN 150-foot fully automated target shooting positions. You will shoot in the comfort of a modern climate-controlled indoor firing range, with an air handling system that continually filters/circulates fresh air that drives the gun-smoke downrange.
MILO, a modern in-depth computer firearms simulator, is also available for use by law enforcement agencies.
Firearms familiarization courses can be arranged for area Citizen Police Academies.

Firearms courses
Great Oaks Public Safety Services offers a firearms course to meet the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council (OPOTC) annual in-service mandate for active police officers and honorably retired (HR218) officers.
Basic handgun and shotgun qualification and re-qualification courses are available for the private security professional.
The Basic Rifle course will introduce the user to the proper handling and shooting of the AR15 and M4 rifle.
No single action/sub compact weapons are permitted on the range.

Firearms -Concealed Carry
This firearms course provides the Ohio required training necessary to apply for the Ohio Concealed Carry permit.
The Great Oaks Firing Range offers a course to meet the required 8 hours of training necessary to apply for an Ohio Concealed Carry permit. This course provides 6 hours of classroom instruction which includes: firearms safety at home and while carrying, safe handling of firearms and ammunition, deadly force matters, dispute resolution, nomenclature of a handgun, types of holsters, functions of a revolver and semi-automatic pistol and range rules and regulations. Two hours of range instruction includes: proper use and handling of a handgun at normal self-defense distances and live-fire practice.
Great Oaks firearms instructors are Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) certified.
Students must furnish a revolver or semi-automatic pistol, 200 rounds of ammunition and either 2-speed loaders or 2 magazines. (No single action/sub compact weapons permitted on the range.) (No reloads or steel core ammo is allowed)
Cost: $120.00
Rental: $50.00 (includes ammunition)

Range Rental
The Great Oaks Police Academy firing range is available 24 hours per day, every day (except major holidays) to: Law Enforcement, Military and Private Security Agencies.
The range is scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
Arrangements can be made to supply Great Oaks instructors, if needed.
In order to obtain the training date you need, please call and schedule at the earliest possible date.
No single action/sub compact weapons permitted on the range.

Private Security Basic Handgun
20 hour
Great Oaks Police Academy is offering a firearms course to meet the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council (OPOTC) mandate for the private security professional to carry a firearm during employment. The course will review the Ohio legal aspects of carrying a firearm, malfunction drills, firearms home safety, range/firearm rules/regulations and range practice on the handgun shooting stages.
Great Oaks firearms instructors are Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) certified.
Students will be tested both in the classroom and on the range. (No single action/sub compact weapons permitted on the range.)
Students are to bring firearm, belt, holster, 2-speed loaders or 3 magazines, a flashlight and a minimum of 350 rounds of ammo (no reloads or steel core) and gun cleaning kit.
Cost: $250.00
Rental: $85.00 (weapon)

Requalification Revolver or Semi-Automatic
4 hour
Great Oaks Police Academy offers a firearms course to meet the yearly qualification set forth in the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) section 4749.10 for the private security professional to maintain their firearm certificate.
Great Oaks firearms instructors are Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) certified.
Officers can requalify up to 90 days prior to their expiration date, and still retain the same expiration date for the next year. It is strongly recommended that officers requalify at the earliest date.
Students are required to bring firearm, belt, holster, 2 Speed-loaders or 2 magazines. (No single action/sub compact weapons permitted on the range.) (No reloads or steel core ammo is allowed)
Cost - Handgun: $150.00 (includes ammunition)
2 or 3 weapons: $175.00 (includes ammunition)
