Start enrolling now for THE POLICE ACADEMY PROGRAM beginning in November 2025.
The first step of enrollment is to attend a
Physical Fitness Assessment.
Serve and protect. Are you the kind of person that wants to make sure your community is safe? Through the Great Oaks Police Academy, you’ll become eligible to earn the Ohio Peace Officer Certificate, which is the gateway to inclusion in a class of individuals who are sought by many police recruiters. Gain over 800 hours of police training under the direction of a State Certified Police Academy Commander.
What you will learn: 800+ hours of police training under the direction of a state-certified police academy commander, administration, first aid, AED certification, human relations, civil disorders, patrol, physical conditioning, driving, emergency vehicle operation, subject control, firearms, traffic investigation, criminal investigations, impact weapons, bombs and explosives, Ohio Revised Criminal Code, Critical Incident Management.

Prospective students must complete a physical conditioning assessment of sit‑ups, push-ups, and 1.5-mile run, then complete paperwork if they successfully meet the preliminary physical fitness standards. Click here for preliminary physical fitness standards

The assessment is held at Great Oaks Public Safety Services, 200 Scarlet Oaks Drive, Cincinnati OH 45241. Building 200, Main Entrance.
STEP 1 - SIGN UP FOR THE PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT
Steps of Enrollment:
- Register & successfully pass a pre-academy physical fitness test
- Fill out an application
- Explore funding options
- Schedule WorkKeys®
- Submit all required documents
- Upload HS Diploma, transcript or HSE in the student portal
- All financial aid paperwork and/or payment
- Sign all required documents in the student portal
All students must be 21 years old by the completion of the program and have a high school diploma or HSE (High School Equivalency). HSE hotline: 513.612.5806
All Fire Academy and Police Academy students must complete a BCI/FBI background check before starting the class.
